Very impressive and great tutorial!

The truck doesn't seem to have to same amount of power as say a Hitec Servo but it definitely has more top speed and is definitely capable of crawling....

10 out of 10 from me!

No the longer shaft doesn't give the engine more torque, the purpose of the longer shaft is to have enough space to stack the gears outside the gearbox. yeah your right a servo has waaaay more power than this, but this thing has plenty of tourque to climb straight up a wall. (if the tires had that much grip)!

i did it with a tamiya motor from a buggy, and it crawls without the gearing, if i add it, it will probably crawl up and over anything

Default new design

After a little bit more tinkering and designing, I have come up with a more efficient way to hold the gears in place. It is more stable, and more durable. I redesigned the plate that secures the xmod main gear and one of the idler gears in place.

So this version uses a screw and a flat plate instead of a bent holder. It looks cleaner than the first version of the holder, and allows more space between the gearbox and the suspension arm. I think I'll use this mod on my project.

10 (If I could still vote)

Yeah and I just figured out that this version allows it to be used with or without the suspension lift kit. The first version would only work with the lifted arms because it protruded too far and got in the way of the knuuckle!
