I like the design of the mini-z suspension except the fact that the suspension starts to get squeaky and it sometimes gets "stuck" in one position when i take it outside for a run. I have tried WD40 but it only works for a few days before drying up and making things worse...
I am thinking of applying some grease/lubricant to the knuckle arm to increase smoothness and prevent squeeking but I need some help on which grease/lubricant to apply? |

If it's anything like the gen1 xmod front suspension, then your best bet is to keep it clean and cover it in graphite. Any kind of oil or grease will pick up grit and rough up the surfaces, making them stick more.

WD40 is to runny, you need a thicker grease like Atomic diff grease or Atomic friction grease. I can PM you a link if you'd like.

Firstly are you using plastic or alloy knuckles? Either way give them a light sanding and make sure they are smooth. If you are using plastic knuckles, make sure they arent bent or mis-shaped.

If you're running outdoors and need the stuff to really stay inside the suspension, you're going to need actual grease, not that syrupy ATM stuff.
Ball diff grease is a good option, that stuff is formulated to stay on the exposed diff balls and out of the wheels on direct-driven pan cars. Another option is simply Vaseline. Does a decent job for cheap and stays as long as you DON'T put too much on.

I heard that Vaseline makes the plastic more brittle over time? If not I might use it.
Suspension setup... -Mini-z AWd -1.5 Degree knuckles all around -3racing springs -insane offset in the rear (thats probably one of the reasons why) -negative offset in the front |

I don't know where you've heard that from but that shouldn't be the case.
AFAIK, Vaseline is just a mixture of different oils/greases/waxes... it shouldn't contain any solvents so it should be pretty safe to apply on plastic. At least I've never had a problem with it, I stuff my diffs with Vaseline.

I forgot where I heard it, I think it was from a 1/10 scale forum.
I applied it and it works great Thanks |
